Feature length version of the 1995 kids TV series. Harmony Parker is a lonely 12 year old tomboy who longs for a pet and prefers animals to her family, who forbid her to have pets and pay her little attention. The only member of her family who she adores is her Uncle Ginger, and when he arrives one day for a visit he brings her a gift of a 50p coin, which he tells her grants wishes. She has 10 wishes in all, but she soon finds out that not everything she wishes for turns out exactly as she imagines...
Starring Victoria Shalet, Paula Wilcox, Stephen Moore, Heather Jay Jones, Donald Sumpter, Callum Dixon and Anthony Hamblin among the main cast. This is a feature length version of the 1995 series, which was uploaded on Youtube originally by Mick's Nostalgia Channel. Sadly that channel disappeared in July, but I was fortunate enough to save it and until the episode version of the series appears, this will have to do. Lead actress Victoria Shalet had worked with director Carol Wiseman before in Goggle-Eyes in 1993, and Wiseman had apparently been so impressed with the actress that when they were planning to adapt Dick King-Smith's novel in 1995, it was Wiseman who was responsible for casting Shalet in the role of Harmony Parker. One significant difference between adaptation and book is that in the book Harmony only has 7 wishes, whereas here in the TV version she gets 10.
