Part 3 of 6 of the supernatural kids series. Lucy finds she cannot get back into Alice's world, so she ends up going Christmas shopping with her cousins. However, when she wanders off she is surprised to bump into Alice in her time as she also meets the noted mademoiselle. But Alice is becoming increasingly controlling, which frightens Lucy somewhat. But back in her own time, her new family are increasingly concerned about her and call in a doctor. But it's a planned treat by her cousins that tips Lucy over the edge... This is a hauntingly good children's series that has depths that today's adult dramas could only dream of. I'm not usually a fan of politics added into a series, but in this case it fits perfectly, as the activist socialist family adds to poor Lucy's increasing confusion to her previous gentile conservative upbringing and her sense of not belonging in the modern world.
