S3, Ep 8: Flashback. Magnum dreams he's in 1936—populated with versions of his friends—where he's working for a young woman whose father, a union leader, has been accused of the murder of a construction magnate. But why is he dreaming this? Starring Tom Selleck, John Hillerman, Roger E Mosley, Larry Manetti, Anne Lockhart, Robin Strand, Irene Yan-Ling Sun, Lee Patterson, Rosemary Murphy, Michael Hasegawa, Earl Kingston, Bill Verdier, Harland Reeve and Patrick Bishop. You may be forgiven for thinking Magnum had jumped the shark here or gone all Dallas. For much of this episode Magnum is back in 1936, playing a film noir private eye (obviously the creators of this love film noir) investigating an old murder. Luckily you don't get Bobby Ewing popping out of the shower, but there is a reason for Magnum's flights into fancy, which becomes clear towards the end...
