Part 1 of 6 of the Bognor mystery. Simon Bognor is assigned to investigate a dog smuggling ring who seem to be entering dogs from abroad to British competitions to claim lucrative prizes. Questioning Mervyn Sparks, the man who originally raised concerns about this, he is intrigued to learn that one of the prized poodles in the competition may have been poisoned and seeks out it's owner, Ailsa Potts. But Potts is strangely reluctant to consider the idea, and it gets even stranger when Sparks then falls ill with a suspected rabies infection!
Starring David Horovitch, Joanna McCallum, Ewen Roberts, Elizabeth Spriggs, Joan Greenwood, Tim Meats, Roy MacReady, Frances Low, Michael Bilton, Kate Fahy and Anton Phillips. The 3rd of the Bognor mysteries, and it has to be said that this is not as good as the previous two mysteries. It does at least features familiar faces in film star Joan Greenwood, Shine on Harvey Moon's Elizabeth Spriggs, while Frances Low will be familiar to Poirot and Miss Marple fans, as she appeared in A Pocketful of Rye and Poirot's Traingle at Rhodes. After this mystery the series took a break due to nosediving ratings. Maybe it was this mystery that did it for the series, but it still intrigues just to see how it will progress.
