Lurcio is a slave owned by senator Ludicrus Sextus and his family in ancient Rome. All he would like is his freedom, but when he asks his tight fisted owner, he agrees on condition he pays him the £500 dracmas that he originally paid him. But just when Lurcio wonders where he is going to find such an amount, fate intervenes when he learns that Captain Bilius's shipment of slave girls have gone missing, and that his master's lovestruck son Nausius may of had something to do with it...
Starring Frankie Howerd, Max Adrian, Elizabeth Larner, Kerry Gardner, Georgina Moon, John Junkin, Aubrey Woods, Julia Goodman, Ruth Harrison, Richard McNeff, Walter Horsbrugh, Danny Daniels, Barbara Lindley and Valerie Stanton. This was the pilot episode of the hugely successful TV sitcom of the early 1970's, which gave Frankie Howerd one of his biggest hits. Amazingly only 13 episodes (plus the pilot) were ever made, but it is still remembered even now. Frankie was a huge favourite of mine as a kid, so I hope you like this series too. Enjoy.
