Clarence (1988) (Episode 5)

Ep 5: With little work for a removal man in the countryside Clarence decides to go to the labour exchange looking for a job. However what he ends up getting proves less than popular with Travers - or indeed with anybody! Starring Ronnie Barker, Josephine Tewson and George Ballantyne. This penultimate episode of this short lived but sweet sitcom at times makes you wonder whether all the budget might of gone into the perfect period settings when you consider how few other cast members appear here. Yet it seems not to matter a jot as the main draw is the two leads and their gentle and cheeky sparring with each other, which not only gives it an old fashioned feel with it's period settings but also with it's humour of how British comedy used to do humour. A hidden gem and one I hope you enjoy.
