Starring Tim Curry, Richard Thomas, Annette O'Toole, Tim Reid, John Ritter, Dennis Christopher, Harry Anderson, Richard Masur, Jonathan Brandis, Emily Perkins, Brandon Crane, Adam Faraizi, Seth Green, Ben Heller, Marlon Taylor, Michael Cole and Olivia Hussey among the main cast. Gaining critical notices (plus some criticism) when it was first broadcast in 1990, this proved a big success for Stephen King on TV - a medium he had become convinced couldn't do justice to his work until then. While the climax disappointed some critics, it still gained huge ratings in the USA and was a notable success for it's cast members. Cheif beneficianary of it all was Tim Curry, who had previously been overlooked by casting directors due to his work in comedy, but proved the pivotal factor in it's success. He's as mesmerizing and he is scary, and probably chief reason why circuses have plummeted in popularity. Remember - keep away from water and don't accept a balloon from him...
