It's 1814 and the war is finally over. Napoleon has been routed by the British and been sent to Elba with his tail between his legs. However Sharpe feels much the same way when he is sent to head the Scarsdale Yeomanry in his native Yorkshire where trouble is afoot. The workers are striking over the planned modernizing of the mills they work at with new machinery, and recently there has been arson attacks on some of the mills. Sharpe is reluctant to return to his home county after many years away and straight upon arriving he narrowly avoids an ambush from some of the group. But he is shocked to discover that the leader of the group is none other than former childhood friend Matt Truman. But it is not the only face from the past that Sharpe comes across, especially when he learns that his estranged wife Jane and her love Lord Rossendale have moved up to Yorkshire, leading Sharpe to vow revenge on the pair...
Starring Sean Bean, Daragh O'Malley, John Tams, Tony Haygarth, Philip Glenister, Douglas Henshall, Abigail Cruttenden, Karen Meagher, Caroline Langrishe, Alex Denisof, Philip Anthony, Philip Martin Brown, Sean O'Kane, Henry Moxon, Rita May, Richard Bremmer, Tony Aitken, Nick Conway and Matthew Lewis. This would be the penultimate episode of the original run of the Sharpe series and is an unusual one as Sharpe is not fighting the French or going into battle. He does however encounter a number of familiar faces to him, including Dan Hagman, Lady Anne Camoynes and his adulterous wife Jane with her lover. To think you move to Yorkshire to get away from people... It also features Philip Glenister (pre Life on Mars) and Douglas Henshall (playing a George Wickham, which is an in joke nod to Pride and Prejudice). You'll see more of Douglas Henshall later today in another of my uploads. It even has a surprise appearance by Billy Boswell off of sitcom Bread (Nick Conway) among the cast. The only surprise is that Sharpe doesn't recognize Tony Haygarth, considering he was in a previous episode - although playing a different character. The last of the Sharpes I have that concluded the 1990's series I will upload next week. Until then, enjoy. (Note: I will be uploading the rest of my other videos later today).
