On his visit to the Sands Hotel, Chuck encounters a haughty ballerina, Maria Corvier (Cyd Charisse), whose mere presence appears to have reversed his run of bad luck. Believing the dancer is his good-luck charm, Chuck asks Maria to accompany him for the remainder of his trip. Sparks develop, but not before a series of comic misunderstandings.
