The 11th Wexford mystery from 1990. When world famous flautist Sir Manuel Carmargue is found drowned at night days before his wedding to a much younger local woman, Wexford has little cause to believe it is anything other than an accident. His estranged daughter now inherits and turns up at the inquest. However, his grieving fiancee approaches Wexford to tell of how Carmargue believed that his daughter may actually be an imposter. And as Wexford ivestigates he becomes obsessed in his quest to prove whether the woman really is his daughter, or whether something more sinister is afoot...
