This is a remake of an older song I wrote last year. I get such a soothing feeling from lavender. The scent and the sight. A friend of mine once told me that when I have anxiety to close my eyes and picture myself surrounded by lavender light. And it works. Have you ever seen a lavender sky? They are incredible. Probably one of the prettiest things I have ever seen. So I wrote this song about that feeling. I write a lot about feelings. I thought that beautiful, soothing landscapes would accompany this video nicely. Hope this gives you a moment of peace.
Marshall Altman added Bass, Drums, Synth, Electric Guitar, Mixing and mastering. This was an experiment in adding in more live instrumentation.
'Lavender Sky'
[Verse 1]
The rigid world begins to fade
Into the silence we have made
The heavy hours start to slip
Like wine upon a fingertip
I watch the daylight start to fade
In cool water we both wade
It is a soft and soothing healing
Such a lovely earthy feeling
[Chorus]
Oh, the lavender sky
Is a soft and heavy sigh
It is the color of the deep
Between the waking and the sleep
I am floating in the violet tide
Nowhere left to run or hide
Just the scent of the unraveled knot
Everything the world forgot
Lavender Sky...
[Verse 2]
I crush the flower in my palm
To drink the oil, to drink the calm
It is a memory of a place
Without a time, without a face
It is an anesthetic for the mind
Leaving the jagged edge behind
A soft touch on my lips
A smooth hand upon my hips
[Chorus]
Oh, the lavender sky Is a soft and heavy sigh
It is the color of the deep
Between the waking and the sleep
I am floating in the violet tide
Nowhere left to run or hide
Just the scent of the unraveled knot
Everything the world forgot
Lavender Sky...
[Outro]
It is not a color, it is a mood
A sensuous soft interlude
Purple shadows on the sheet
Where the dream and the body meet
