Part 7 of 7 and the final part of the classic thriller. Having learnt that Operation Witchcraft uses a safehouse to exchange information with Aleksey Aleksandrovich Polyakov, a Soviet agent, which the mole uses to leak info to Russia, Smiley sets a trap in order to entice the mole. But as they wait little do they realize that Jim Prideaux is plotting his own revenge on the traitor. But just who is the mole?
Starring Alec Guinness, Michael Jayston, Anthony Bate, Ian Bannen, Bernard Hepton, Ian Richardson, Michael Aldridge, Terence Rigby, Hywel Bennett, George Sewell, Sian Phillips, George Pravda, Alec Sabin, Duncan Jones and Michael Beecher. The final episode sees a tense waiting game as Smiley attempts to smoke out the traitor. It's a superb episode, but what is so impressive is the cast, with such familiar character stars as Jayston, Hepton, Richardson, Bannen, Aldridge and Rigby to name just a few, with Ian Richardson yet to make his name in such fare as Porterhouse Blues and House of Cards. And you finally get to meet Smiley's notorious wife Ann, played by the wonderful Sian Phillips who really should of had more screen time. This is one of the pinnacles of TV dramas, with a cast to die for, and one I hope you enjoy.
