S5, Ep 9: Tran Quoc Jones. A Vietnamese boy living on the streets goes to see Magnum and wants him to find his American father who served in Vietnam. Magnum finds himself surprisingly attached to his young client, but things are complicated by the interest of a politician running for election and a sting that Jim Bonnick - the new "Mac" - wants Magnum to help him in. But what none of them know is that the Vietnamese boy was one of the last people to see a murdered woman alive, and who has hidden something in his bag that someone wants badly and will stop at nothing to get it!
Starring Tom Selleck, John Hillerman, Roger E Mosley, Larry Manetti, Jeff MacKay, Rick Lenz, Terry Kiser, Deborah Pratt, Robert Tessier, Roland Harrah III, Kwan Hi Lim, George Groves, Robbie Dernehi, Camella Barat, Glenn Pinho and Naomi Otsubo. Another decent mystery from Magnum that also features what may or may not be an opportunistic politician who hears the case of a Vietnamese boy looking for his father. Interestingly it's not as clear cut as you'd think and it's also complicated by a murder that the boy has witnessed who also has a package that he doesn't know he's got. The only downside is another appearance by the new "Mac", who has none of the charm of his predecessor and is just another irritating con artist who Magnum always seems to fall for. But when he's not onscreen it's a pretty decent case.
