Fifteen year old schoolgirl Sarah Norton ends up meeting former artist Ashley St Clair one day in a cafe after avoiding her boyfriend after an argument. An unlikely friendship develops between her and St Clair, who has lost inspiration in his work until Sarah revives his passion for art again. But she also revives his passion for life and soon their friendship develops into romance for each other - something that could prove increasingly difficult in the community, due to the fact that Sarah is nearly 16 and St Clair 60 years old.

Occasionally in my trawl of the charity shops you will find the odd video tape, which is how I came across this film. Directed by Jules Dassin, this was originally released on May 7th 1981 and was the last film he directed. I have to say I'd never heard of this before, but it is somewhat surprising material, given that it involves a 15 year old American schoolgirl's romance with a 60 year old man. Admittedly Richard Burton doesn't look 60 (he wasn't) and it's handled in a sensitive style, but it's still a little dubious. It also features a nude scene involving Tatum O'Neal which is less salacious than it sounds, but if you can overcome a somewhat clunky start it is a diverting drama that holds some interest just because you wonder how it will conclude. I've got to say though - I don't think much of Burton's artwork! Please note that because this comes from an old video tape that there may be some glitches, so apologies in advance. Please also note that there is some swearing, a violent scene and a nude scene.
