Part 3 of 6 of the P.D. James mystery from 1991. Dalgliesh stumbles upon the body of the latest victim of The Whistler when he finds Hilary Robards dead in the woods, leading to him and his old police colleague Det Insp Terry Rickards to wonder if the killer is a member of staff at the Nuclear Power Station. Certainly there seems to be many without an alibi, with Caroline Amphlett desperate for colleague Jonathan Reeves to give her an alibi for that night. And many more had reason to dislike her, as police delve into her background and discover a number of surprising revelations. But for someone her death sends them completely over the edge - literally! Starring Roy Marsden, Tony Haygarth, James Faulkner, Susannah York, Gemma Jones, Tom Chadbon, Suzan Crowley, Helena Michell, Tom Georgeson, Lisa Ellis, Harry Burton, Jamie Newall, Amanda Royle, Paul Hargreaves, John Judd and Cherith Mellor. This is from my own collection and was the last of the adaptations to be done in the traditional 6 episode format. After that they differed from one off mysteries to 3 part thrillers. By the way, in case you are wondering where you may of seen young Lisa Ellis before (listed here as Taylor), who plays Theresa Blaney, she later appeared in the Martin Kemp adaptation of Brides in the Bath in 2002. Please note regarding this episode that this contains swearing, violence and nudity.
