Remember the hands position in the basic stance. The elbow of your front hand must remains at a some distance from the body. That is the distance between the thumb and little finger. This distance. Your forearm moves around the elbow. And all defensive movements are made in this way. Attention! Your elbow is immovable! And all these defensive movements can protect you. Also you can use your body movements (I mean rotation) in a critical situation, when your arm is pressed too hard. Like this. The immovable elbow theory often compare with a hurricane. Calm in the centre and with tremendous force at the periphery. The forearm can move in any direction, but the elbow never moves. According to the immovable elbow theory your hands must do all movements in this border. The height of the boundary is the eyebrows, and the lowest boundary line is the groin area, although the elbow must never dip below the navel. Only this position. The width of the boundary is the width of your shoulders. So, we have these boundary lines. There are some mistakes that are commonly made by beginners. The first one. The elbow is much too close to the body. Like this. In this case you have less time for offence. The second one. The arm is extended too much. Like this. In this case your balance becomes much worse.
