Victor Tourjanski avait déjà réalisé un film avec ce titre en 1921. Le film contient peu de dialogues et aurait pu être un film muet. Un colonel âgé épouse une femme plus jeune qui ne peut résister aux avances d'un jeune lieutenant ; elle devient sa maîtresse. Surprise par Philippe, l'infirmier du colonel qui l'oblige à se donner à lui, elle rentre chez elle et se suicide après avoir tout avoué à son mari dans une lettre.
