"Lovers Blades" (1982), Shaw Brothers, Eng Sub

Maybe one of the rarest of all Shaw Brothers movies, Lovers Blade was never remastered and released digitally for streaming or on DVD, possibly because its masters were lost in the Myers Fire, last we knew. Lovers Blades is one of the most sought after by Shaw collectors and aficionados. A comedy with romance elements, it's often a semi-spoof of martial arts in general. It is the only starring role for Meng Yuen Man, a classmate of Jackie Chan, who got a heart attack after this film was made that left him unable to make strenuous action films. The fact his one film may be gone forever and he couldn't make any more makes this film oddly poignant. Fans of the inimicable and beautiful Kara Hui need to see this one as well. Yes, I know the quality isn't great, it's the best I've got and if you've got a better quality copy, let me know.
