The.Secret.Garden (1975) (Episode 7)

Final part of the children's TV series from 1975. Young Mary Lennox is sent to live with her uncle when her parents are killed during a cholera epidemic in India. Arriving in England to live in an old country house on the Yorkshire moors with a distant uncle she has never met, she finds the experience a strange and lonely one. Gradually she begins to make friends with some of the servants, as well as the gardener's lad Dickon, But as she begins to explore her surroundings, she finds a number of things puzzle her - such as a key buried in the garden, and mysterious crying in the night. Curious to these things, she sets to find out, and in the process begins to learn more about herself and the household... Starring Sarah Hollis Andrews, Hope Johnsone, William Marsh, Jacqueline Hoyle, Andrew Harrison, David Patterson, John Woodnutt, Tom Harrison, Lorraine Peters and Richard Warner among the cast. I remember watching this at school in the 1980's when our schoolteacher used to bring in his old video recording of this from when it had been broadcast, and it has always stuck in my mind. Capturing perfectly it's period it is set in due to it's videotape recording when they filmed it, it also has a memorable theme tune that reflects the era and once heard is never forgotten.
