Beth’s mother Bunny arrives in Ramsay Street and immediately gets off to a terrible start with Brad after he accidentally drenches her in beer. Her doubts about the wedding only grow when she learns Beth and Brad are already sleeping together, hears about their beach wedding plans, and then discovers Brad is considering living in a caravan park near the surf after they marry. Elsewhere, Debbie and Rick are caught together at the lookout just as Rick’s family confirms they are moving to Sydney, leaving the young couple facing separation. Annalise also tries to defend Fiona after Jim’s death, while Pam attempts to make peace with Wayne.
Starring Natalie Imbruglia, Scott Michaelson, Terence Donovan, Sue Jones, Rachel Blakely, Marnie Reece-Wilmore, Dan Falzon, Ian Rawlings, Jullie Mullins, George Spartels, Elspeth Ballantyne and Kimberley Davies. Episode 1908 and Beth Brennan's mother turns up to vet her daughter's fiance and it's clear to see she's not a happy bunny! One thing watching old random episodes like this does is confirm your original impression of characters and despite Beth's mother being a snob, you cannot really blame her for her horrified reaction to Brad Willis. He really is not the brightest spark in the box and reinforces the male bimbo image of surfers. Then of course there is Julie Martin, a character I couldn't stand back then and just confirms my opinion watching her in this. It says a lot for a character when your stepson Michael tries to kill you and you still end up rooting for the stepson! Sadly Troy Beckwith died of cancer aged 48 in 2024. By the way, for those younger viewers thinking the actress Gaby Willis looks familiar, it's Rachel Blakely who later appeared in the Aussie kids series Mortified from 2006 to 2007.
