Watch our benchmark of the Core i7 4790K and the Core i7 5930K running 3DMark's new DX12 API Overhead Test! See the difference DirectX 12 or Mantle may have on your gaming experience when compared to DirectX 11, and how a higher Core count on your processor may improve the performance.
Futuremark - "Games make thousands of draw calls per frame, but each one creates performance-limiting overhead for the CPU. APIs with less overhead can handle more draw calls and produce richer visuals. The 3DMark API Overhead feature test is the world's first independent test for comparing the performance of DirectX 12, Mantle, and DirectX 11. See how many draw calls your PC can handle with each API before the frame rate drops below 30 fps.
The purpose of the test is to compare the relative performance of different APIs on a single system, rather than the absolute performance of different systems.
** The API Overhead feature test is not a general-purpose GPU benchmark, and it should not be used to compare graphics cards from different vendors. (We are working on a DirectX 12 benchmark with game-like workloads, which we expect to release soon after the public launch of Windows 10.)"

Please note that this test is just a theoretical test provided by 3DMark to show how games running on DX12 should have better performance compared to those running on DX11. This kind of improvement does not necessarily translate 100% into real world performance, but DX12 should give a significant boost to future games.
Also, for those wondering why we did not use a 5960X in this test, it is because the performance increase from a 5930K to a 5960X is barely negligible and does not show much in this test. Again, this may change in the future, and if that is the case, we will definitely upload a new video to showcase that.
