Notes from Chopin Institute Site. "Born 1916 Weston-Super-Mare. Lance Dossor studied piano playing with Herbert Freyer (Fryer) at the Royal School of Music in London and with Emil von Sauer in Vienna.
In 1926, he was awarded a Special Prize at the International Music Competition in Vienna. One year later, he took the 4th Prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. In May 1938, at the Eugène Ysaÿe International Music Competition in Brussels, he again came 4th.
In Warsaw, Mr. Dossor's performances were well received. Music critics underlined that his playing was "precise to the highest degree, vivid, and in every detail a testimony to excellent education". The pianist never again performed in Poland.
