Unlike many existing films, which have always offered interpretations of the work, Henri de Gerlache aims to illuminate the connections between the work and the artist. The film's style is guided by the enigmatic nature of Magritte, a multifaceted man far more whimsical than the image of the gentle bourgeois often suggests. The unique perspective offered here is that of the young actor Charlie Dupont, who draws the viewer into an investigation that is both intuitive and scientific. From the Schaerbeek cemetery to the village where Magritte was born in 1898, sixty-eight years of his life are reconstructed as a mysterious and meticulously researched collage, a tribute to the artist.
