Part 3 of 4 of the period drama from 2001. Marie Melmotte arrives in Liverpool with her maid, Didon, on the first stage of her elopement, only to be arrested and taken back home in disgrace after her father has raised the alarm. Meanwhile, Felix is stopped from seeing Ruby by Mrs. Pipkin and Mrs. Hurtle, who refuse to allow the 'courtship' to continue until he makes his intentions clear...
Starring David Suchet, Paloma Baeza, Matthew MacFadyen, Cheryl Campbell, Shirley Henderson, Cillian Murphy, Douglas Hodge, Anne-Marie Duff, Maxine Peake, Oliver Ford Davies, Tony Britton, Richard Cant, Helen Schlesinger, Graham Crowden, Rob Brydon, David Bradley, Joanna David, Michelle Dotrice, Miranda Otto, Allan Corduner, Angus Wright, Stuart McQuarrie, Lilo Baur, John Rumney, Peter Gunn and Sarah Niven, who plays servant Simpson and who some eagle eyed viewers may recognize from the Coming Up short "Naked" in 2003, where she wore very little period costume at all. However, for Cillian Murphy (who plays Paul Montague in this), this would gain him enough notice for bigger success in such films as 28 Days Later (2002), Cold Mountain (2003) and Batman Begins (2005) before gaining even bigger success in the last few years in the TV series Peaky Blinders from 2013 to 2022.
