Joan Davis goes to New York posing as a racy novelist to pick up her royalty cheque as a favour for the author, only to be knocked out and wake up to believe she is the character in her pal's book. Cue lots of chaos and embarrassing situations. Eventually it all catches up with her, and discovering her dancing at a posh do, Jack Oakie decides to bring her to her senses and teach her a lesson at the same time and goes over in front of everyone and gives her a good spanking. Would that bring her senses back to her brain, I wonder? Sadly Joan Davis herself died fairly young at 48 from a heart attack in 1961.
