Overview: DI Frost works alongside his temporary partner WPC Claire Toms, while dealing with the aftermath of a fire that leaves him temporarily homeless. The pair find themselves involved in tracking down Pauline Venables, an employee of a local department store who was recently kidnapped while attempting to make amends with her sister over an incident that soured their relationship. Frost learns that her kidnapper wants £30,000 in ransom, and initially suspects Pauline's new boyfriend, an ex-con. However, when it transpires Pauline's lover is innocent, the hunt for her takes a dark turn when the kidnapper becomes greedy and murders an accomplice.
