Both are fed up of prison life and being in trouble, so McLaren tells Fletch of his plan to escape. However, Fletch has a better idea and one that may help both of them with a football match coming up... Starring Ronnie Barker, Fulton Mackay, Brian Wilde, Tony Osoba, Ken Jones and Michael Barrington. Another classic episode, this is unique for the early series for being the first not to feature Richard Beckinsale (as Godber), who was fresh from his success in another TV sitcom, The Lovers, which had finished the year before. And I just love the gag at the end when Fletch finds Horrible Ives a racy book for him - the punchline is a joy.
