Spoof adventure film. During World War One, adventurer Allan Quartermain is hired by a young woman, Jesse Huston, to search for her father, who has disappeared on an expedition to find the lost King Solomon's mines in Africa. However, it transpires that her father has been captured by a German military expedition led by Colonel Bockner and a Turkish slave trader, Dogati, who have heard of the fabled mines and are using him as a guide to find them. Can Quartermain find him among the treacherous surroundings and hazards and stop the others getting to the mines before them?
Starring Richard Chamberlain, Sharon Stone, John Rhys Davies, Herbert Lom, Ken Gampu, June Buthelezi, Bernard Archard, Sam Williams, Shaike Ophir and Mick Lesley to name a few. This is from an old video recording complete with adverts from it's film premier in 1990, so apologies in advance for any glitches or fuzziness there may be. Originally not that popular with critics, it missed the whole point that this film is a spoof of all the Indiana Jones type films and once realized this is actually quite good fun (though Sharon Stone may cringe at this pre-fame role of hers). That is part of my reason for uploading this, so just sit back and enjoy a bit of light hearted escapism. Please note this does contain swearing and violence, while those who don't like 8 legged critters (like myself) may wish to take a cushion with them for the cave sequence during the film's climax. Enjoy.
