Based on the novel MAN OF THE WEST, written either by the controversial screenwriter and producer -of Polish Jewish descent- Philip Yordan or, most probably, by the American screenwriter and director Ben Maddow/David Wolff (it is said that Maddow used Yordan as a front for directing movies as he was black-listed by Hollywood during the McCarthy era while Yordan lived in Paris).
The script was adapted for the wide screen by the American screenwriter William Ludwig.
Produced by the American producer Nicholas Nayfack.
Directed by the American director (of Russian Jewish descent) Roy Rowland: his son had an important role in this western which was the last film Roy Rowland made for MGM before his departure to Europe where he turned to direct spaghetti westerns.
The movie was filmed in Humboldt County, Bronson Canyon, Garberville and Los Angeles (CALIFORNIA).
Of course, the meaning of the title could be misjudged for GUNS OF THE GLORY or THE GLORY OF GUNS, so it should better be THE PRICE OF THE GUNS (Η ΤΙΜΗ ΤΩΝ ΟΠΛΩΝ).
