A simple recipe for homemade orange cake out of five ingredients.
Just Five Ingredients:
1 orange, juice and zest
200 grams unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar (200 grams)
4 eggs
2 cups self-raising flour (260 grams)
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350F/180C.
2. Grate the orange peel making some orange zest (1-2 teaspoons, optional). From the peeled orange make orange juice (70-100 grams, optional).
3. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Add eggs. Mix well. Then add orange juice and zest, mix again.
5. Gradually add 2 cups self-raising flour and mix well.
6. Lay a sheet of baking paper to cover one baking dish.
7. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in a preheated oven to 350F/180C for 25-30 minutes, using a toothpick inserted in the center to test for doneness.
Decorate with icing sugar.
If you don’t have self-rising flour and you have a recipe that calls for it, you can make your own by combining 1 cup all purpose flour with 1 tsp baking powder and 1/4 tsp salt.
