"Farewell of Slavianka" is a march written in 1912 by the staff trumpeter of the 7th Reserve Cavalry Regiment, Vasily Agapkin, under the impression of the events of the First Balkan War (1912-1913). In essence, it is a national march, symbolizing a send-off to war, to military service or to a long journey. Beyond the borders of Russia, it is one of the most recognizable "musical symbols" of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation!
