About This Track
'Sister to a Brother' is taken from 'These Words Aren't Meant For Me' the debut album by Singer Songwriter Rob Finlay.
Song Concept
This song is about an old girl friend who cheated on me. One night I discovered she was hiding a guy in her room, it was like a scene from a bad movie, and it marked the end of our relationship. I felt betrayed and deeply hurt. It's a bitter sweet track because I loved her but knew that it would never work again once that trust had been lost. Writing this song was cathartic. I now look back on this event and can laugh but at the time it was difficult.
Video Concept
The video presents a nostalgic dream-like vision, a day of adventure shared by two young children in the wild woods of youth. Breaking through the tide of nostalgia we search for something pure and good from our collective memories, back to a time before we had grown up, before we had our hearts broken for the first time.

Lyrics
Verse 1
Wake up on your side, leave me your smile
Before you leave the room, before you say goodbye
Turn out the lights, turn back my life
We lent love anyway
Chorus 1
Daughter to your mother
And sister to your brother
Lover to another, now you'll go
Verse 2
Hold out your hand
As you pass through the door
I won't stand in your way anymore
Love shouldn't be lost
I know it can't be held and I'll
I'll never feel the same
Chorus 2
Daughter to your mother
And sister to your brother
Lover to another, now you'll go
Verse 3
Wake up on your side
Leave me that smile
You promised me when we first laid eyes
Keep what you like take your things and your lies but
Please leave me this and nothing else besides
Chorus 3
Daughter to your mother
And sister to your brother
Lover to another, now you'll go
Verse 4
You start at the end with a girl like this it's
All invisible until then
Trying to get hold of something you can't it's like
Watching water running back through the sand and now
Chorus 4
Daughter to your mother
And sister to your brother
Lover to another, now you'll go
Now you'll go, now you'll go, now you'll go
