A half-ton brown bear uses his whole body to paint abstract artwork - and he’s even painted a self paw-trait. Meet Juuso the 1000lb bruin who gives Claw-d Monet and Paw-blo Picasso a run for their money.
Not content with using his massive paws as a makeshift brush, the artistic orphan even rolls around in the paint to create his furry masterpieces.
Since starting his acrylic odyssey in September, six of Juuso’s 15 paintings have been sold for €300. The proceeds go to the Kuusamo Predator Centre where he has lived since birth. Pasi Jäntti and Sulo Karjalainen care for the six bears that reside at the orphanage, which is around 475 miles north of Helsinki, Finland.
Without the luxury of opposable thumbs, Pasi and Sulo help Juuso, the grizzly bear, to begin his oeuvre by squirting paint onto a blank canvas for him. He then starts off by moving his huge pads around the paper or plywood to create his background.
Juuso finishes off his masterpieces by rolling his gigantic furry frame from side to side, creating swathes of brush strokes. The grizzly artiste is currently on a forced six-month-long sabbatical - mainly because he is hibernating.
