some of the world's most prestigious institutions who are working to prove that time spent in nature stimulates previously-unknown biological and psychological resources and is an inexhaustible source of well-being. Thirty years after the first study revealed the physiological impact of nature on hospitalized patients, these scientists estimate there's enough proof today to confirm that any immersion in natural environments or urban green spaces helps regulate heartbeat, improve circulation in the neocortex, reduce cortisol and stress, reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, and, best of all, significantly reinforce our natural immune system. Their studies show that regular time spent in nature reduces anxiety and mental fatigue, increases our attention spans, improves our cognitive functions, and can even help fight depression. These illuminating results, still relatively unknown by the public at large, could ultimately lead to a radical transformation of our public health systems.
