Medieval mass grave unearthed: 50 bodies may belong to pilgrims who had travelled to visit the 'miraculous' remains of St Chad Archaeologists have unearthed around 50 skeletons at what was once a medieval pilgrimage site in the West Midlands. The shallow graves were discovered while experts surveyed the grounds around Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire where an almshouse once stood.
