This tragedy causes the parents to separate. Yusuf, consumed by guilt over his harsh treatment of his son, suffers from severe trauma. With the emotional changes he experiences, he goes out to hang the "freedom" posters belonging to his son that he found at home on the streets. However, during this action he undertook with his son's friends, he is caught, and the death of a soldier in this conflict is blamed on Yusuf. Yusuf is now a prisoner facing the death penalty. On the other hand, Bayram, the cart driver who shares Yusuf's cell, is the most innocent and unfortunate prisoner in the prison. While working as a cart driver with his sick horse Yasemin, he was married to a distant relative. One day, he finds his wife dead in bed with another man. Accused of murder and imprisoned, Bayram continues to be mistreated in his cell. Yusuf, who takes Bayram under his wing upon his arrival at the prison, teaches him to read and protect himself. But the prison administration has other plans for Bayram. The lawyer appointed by the state to defend Bayram is forcing him to become an executioner in exchange for having the charges against him dropped. Despite all of Yusuf's warnings, Bayram, influenced by his naivety, is forced to accept the job of executioner. Learning the intricacies of the job from a former executioner, Bayram, in shame, carries out his first execution. Bayram, freed after his second execution, will find no peace outside. As his Gypsy friend warned him, he can no longer sleep, haunted by the nightmares of the executed prisoners, and he cannot escape his role as an executioner. He is now someone who can be beaten, pushed, shoved, threatened, and forced into his executioner's job whenever necessary.
