Scientists: Coronavirus reached U.S. before it was found in China
Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) analyzed more than 7,000 donated blood samples collected by the American Red Cross in nine states between December 13, 2019, and January 17, 2020. Of those, 106 samples tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies: 39 in California and 67 in Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. The authors performed additional tests to rule out cross-reactivity of the antibodies with other viruses and found that the antibodies detected were specific for SARS-CoV-2. Even allowing for possible false-positive tests, scientists said it was safe to sCoronavirus appeared earlier in US than in China: Scientists
Scientists from the United States studied more than 7,000 donated blood samples collected by the American Red Cross in nine states between December 13, 2019, and January 17, 2020. According to them, the study suggests that some Americans were infected with the virus even before it was detected in Wuhan, China.Scientists say COVID-19 emerged in the United States in December 2019
In December 2020, the US journal Clinical Infectious Diseases published the results of a similar retrospective study of blood samples taken in December 2019 from US residents, some of whom had been infected with COVID-19 even before the new virus was announced in China. How did the U.S., with the help of Chinese scientists, create the SARS coronavirus without protectio
Meanwhile, Chinese scientists believe that bats are not the only carriers of novel coronavirus. So scientists from Yunnan University's Biological Resources Conservation and Utilization Laboratory published a paper in CellPress in late March, reporting that they had found genomic and evolutionary evidence of a match for SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19, in dead Malay pangolins. The genome coincidence rate was 91%, and S1 protein was more closely associated with SARS-CoV-2 than RaTG13 bats. "In conclusion, this study demonstrates that pangolins are a natural source of SARS-CoV-2-like coronavirIn Asia, a new coronavirus has been discovered in bats
Scientists from Singapore Medical School and the University of Thailand have found that bats in Southeast Asia contain antibodies to the coronavirus in their blood, Life.ru reported. Experts use a testing system to detect antibodies in animals. The findings are in the journal Nature Communications. Scientists said the study was conducted in the region, which is a "hot spot" for novel coronavirus to emerge. Earlier, the St. Petersburg TV channel reported that the WHO believed it was unlikely that a person could catch COVID through bats. These are not bats: Who has named possible versions of the coronavirus' origins
February 9, 2021. The World Health Organization has named the most likely version of the origin of the coronavirus. As expert group leader Peter Ben Embarek said today at a special briefing on the results of the WORK of the WHO wuhan mission, the hypothesis that the laboratory incident caused the emergence of the coronavirus is "highly unlikely."На этом пока всё
