We have been here last year and we were fourth and after that I started training and now we have won, that is some kind of dream" ¤W/S Man carrying his wives ¤C/U Sign with coming about the event ¤SCRIPT Hundreds of people came to watch this years wife-carrying competition in Sonkajarvi, Finland, on Saturday. Attendees had to race over a 253.5 metre (839 ft) long track while carrying their wives over several obstacles. The competition was won by Ville Parviainen and Janette Oksman, who finished the obstacle course just one second ahead of British couple Rich Blake Smith and Anna Marguerite Smith. A total of 36 couples took part in this years event, including husband and wives from as far away as Japan. The wife-carrying championship has been an annual tradition in Finland since the year of 1992. Winner's of the competition win beer converted from the wife's weight.
