RETURN TO AZTLAN is the first ever feature film that deals with the immemorial legends of the Aztecs of pre-Columbian Mexico. The film takes place in the XV century, before the Spanish conquest, and the plot concerns a magical journey to the Aztecs' mythical land of origin, undertaken for the purpose of ending a four-year drought. The movie was shot at various archaeological sites; the score is played on traditional and antique instruments and the dialogue is spoken entirely in the ancient Aztec language: Nahuatl WINNER OF THE GREAT SPECIAL AWARD OF THE JURY, TRIESTE FILM FESTIVAL, ITALY 1992.
