What if we were never taught how to hate? When we’re born we only know love, so what if one generation decided not to pass on their prejudices and judgments to the children and instead nurtured their natural instinct and power to love? There might come a time when the idea of judging someone because of their color, sexual orientation or religion, would seem as outdated and bizarre as believing the world is flat.
I’ve always been inspired by the social conscience of the blues. For me the beauty and soul of the blues comes from the fact that it began as a communication of the everyday struggles, beliefs and dreams of people with passion for life and a love of music with real meaning and heart. All this in spite of being very oppressed and mistreated! Although the times have changed and many of struggles have changed; prejudice, hatred and intolerance unfortunately remain. The responsibility to speak out about injustice and honour the blues tradition is the thread that will ensure that the blues story continues to evolve and prosper, and so I here's my contribution toward continuing that Heritage. Hope you have a chance to have a listen to and share...
