Part 2 of 3 of the steamy period drama. Nan is devastated by Kitty's revelation and feeling betrayed she leaves the theatre group and looks for lodgings elsewhere in London. Staying at a boarding house she becomes attracted to the woman living across the street, Florence Banner, but with money running out Nan uses what costumes she took with her to pose as a male prostitute to make ends meet. But that proves a dangerous game and she nearly faces scandal during one of these encounters, only to be rescued by a wealthy widow in a carriage - only to find herself out of the frying pan and into the fire when she finds herself trapped as a sexual plaything for her and introduced to a secret lesbian society.
Starring Rachael Stirling, Anna Chancellor, Jodhi May, Keeley Hawes, John Bowe, Sally Hawkins, Tilly Vosburgh, Heather Dickinson, Paul Ready, Janet Henfrey, Sara Stockbridge, Sarah Crowden, Di Botcher, Milly Gregory, Bernice Stegers, David Webber, Theresa Watson, David Simeon, David Spinx, Carl Chase and Edward Clayton. This was a somewhat controversial and steamy adaptation by Andrew Davies and it is this episode that garnered all the attention by the critics for it's then explicit sexual content (and the fact it involved lesbians, I suspect). As mentioned I'm not one for "modern" TV shows (aka this century) and this is not one of Andrew Davies' best works in his considerable cannon of work. But I've uploaded it because it is bound to interest some people, and as well as the stars in this - where a pre-fame Rachael Stirling goes above and beyond the call of duty for this breakthrough role - there are a lot of fans of Andrew Davies' work itself. And it also features an early role for Sally Hawkins as Anna Chancellor's maid. Please note that this contains some swearing, violence, and a LOT of sex scenes and nudity.
