Actress Bella Thorne is encouraging people to put down their mobile devices and head to a national park.
"Go out and get active. You forget the real beauty around you. For me, it's the Santa Monica mountains. I want to get a bunch of friends and go camping up there," said Thorne.
Hike, camp out, whatever it might be, the Hollywood teen is bringing her message to the Flatiron Plaza on Thursday to kick-off the #FindYourPark campaign by the National Park Service.
Historical, urban and cultural parks, from the White House, Acadia National Park to Big Bend, are all places where people can re-connect with history or nature.
The 17-year-old, who has six million followers on Twitter, nine million on Facebook and four million on Instagram, is taking a break from a neck-breaking filming schedule to promote the campaign.
Thorne has been extra busy as of late. She shot seven movies last year; two at the same time.
"You don't' study them (the scripts) in advance. You study them the night before or the day of otherwise you get too confused and over rehearsed. So much of the script changes every day. They do re-writes. You show up to set and it's not even the same script," said Thorne.
Fans can catch up with Thorne on Thursday, April 2, starting at 1 p.m. directly in front of Madison Square Park at 5th Ave. and Broadway in Manhattan.
