Part 4 of 6 of the children's drama. George has rescued the Psammead from Dawkins' hunting dog and hidden him in the summerhouse, but he is nearly discovered by Aunt Marchmont. However, the children find themselves with their hands full when their aunt wishes she was a youngster again, not knowing the Psammead is nearby, and proceeds to cause all sorts of havoc.
Starring Anna Massey, Toby Ufindell-Phillips, Laura Clarke, Leonard Kirby, Vicci Avery, Polly Kemp, Joanna Barrett, Simon Slater, Frank Taylor, Calum MacPherson, Neil Conrich, Judy Norman, Linda Slade, Jessica James and Francis Wright as the voice of the Psammead. This is the sequel to Five Children and It and was an original story by screenwriter Helen Cresswell, who also did children's shows Moondial (1988) and The Demon Headmaster series in the 1990's. Part of what makes this sequel so special is the performance of Anna Massey, who gets to have real fun as her character reverts to childhood. It's nice to see her as something other than severe or deranged characters that she was so often cast as, and she adds real depth to a seemingly austere character as Aunt Marchmont that becomes more apparent as the series progresses.
