Ep 8: Gunpowder Plot. "Remember, remember the 5th of November. Gunpowder, treason and plot." Little do the team at the Enigma Files department realize that a gang are planning just that on this day and at their own department. And for Nick Lewis, it is doubly risky because the gang kidnap his daughter Liz to make sure he does as he is told. How can they get out of this situation, and just what are the gang after in their offices?
Starring Tom Adams, Sharon Maughan, Duggie Brown, Alyson Spiro, William Gaunt, Paul Antrim, Tommy Wright, Willie Jonah, Michael Ripper, Steven Barnes, Mark Burdis and Anna Hayes. This proved to be a dramatic episode as two of the main cast would be gone before episode 9 was broadcast. I won't spoil who goes, or how they go, but it's unusual to see a main cast member go mid series and either it was planned this way or someone didn't get on with another member of the cast. And keep your eyes peeled early on for the child with the guy, for it is a young Mark Burdis, who would later be known as Stewpot Stewart in Grange Hill (1981-85). His screen sister Anna Hayes, coincidentally, appeared with him in an episode of the sitcom Bless Me, Father the year before.
