𝙅𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙'𝙨 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙉𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙎𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨💥 After a drunken spree on a cruise ship, two women discover that they're pregnant, and set out to find who the fathers are. Jayne Mansfield generated some of the most heated publicity of her career (and that's saying a lot!) when she agreed to film nude scenes for the 1963 comedy, "Promises! Promises!" No American star of her magnitude had ever appeared undraped onscreen before, and the controversy led to the picture being banned, court hearings on obscenity, and Mansfield stoically bearing the bad press (and no doubt saving all the headline clippings). The movie has two reputations; one as a notorious film, being the first film in which a famed Hollywood star appeared nude (heavily hyped in Playboy magazine at the time) and the other as a bad film. It's "notorious" edge is merely historical - today it simply resembles an R-rated LOVE BOAT episode with a little bit of nudity from it's star lady Jayne Mansfield who literally drops her towel and reveals her famous breasts (as well as another scene which shows the butt that once famously bopped down the street to tune "The Girl Can't Help it"). It's bad reputation is not really deserved. While no classic, it's an pleasing time filler with enjoyable performances from both it's main cast and several notable character actors.

Movie Trivia
This was the first movie in which a mainstream American actress (Jayne Mansfield) appeared nude in several revealing scenes). It reportedly took some imbibing of champagne on Mansfield's part to get her out of her clothes the first time, although her fellow actors revealed in later interviews that she seemed to enjoy being naked on set and the attention she got so much, especially from men, that she started traipsing around between scenes. In fact, a photo in Kenneth Anger's book "Hollywood Babylon II" shows Mansfield on the set completely nude chatting with the crew.
During the filming of Jayne Mansfield's nude scenes, Playboy sent a photographer to take still shots which were published in the magazine to promote the movie. Playboy published its behind-the-scenes images in the June 1963 issue, promising "The Nudest Jayne Mansfield" on the cover. Publisher Hugh Hefner was then arrested by Chicago vice squad. The city based its complaint on two "particularly obscene" images showing Mansfield lying naked on a bed with a fully clothed man. But it ended up a mistrial.
During the ocean cruise, Sandy (Jayne Mansfield) sends a telegram announcing her pregnancy to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peers in Texas. The Peers were Mansfield's actual mother and step-father.
Despite being banned in some cities (or perhaps because of it), the film was a hit, and helped to put Jayne Mansfield on the Top 20 List of Box Office Attractions for 1963.
