In the so called paradise ghetto of Theresienstadt, the Nazis prepare for a visit by neutral observers by cleaning up the village, distributing new clothes to the inhabitants and setting any number of happy scenes. The visit goes so well that the Nazis decide to make a film for which Aaron Jastrow must write script. Those plotting to overthrow Hitler make one last attempt on July 20, 1944 resulting in the execution of Count von Stauffenberg and the other plotters. Field Marshall Rommel is seriously hurt in a car accident but he too must pay the price for his participation in the plot. Still in the Pacific, Pug Henry prepares for the battle of Leyte Gulf while Byron becomes the commanding officer of his submarine. Natalie and Aaron are transferred to Auschwitz.

Although the USS Northampton is portrayed with the second main gun turret located aft of the bridge, which is incorrect, all of the WW2 US heavy and light cruisers that could have portrayed the ship had either been: scrapped; converted and scrapped; mothballed; or preserved as a museum ship. It appears that a ship was offered for use during filming and had to be converted. The ship used could not have physically had a second main gun turret included forward as this is pretty obvious, so it had to be added to the aft section behind the bridge.
Von Roon is a Brig. General in the credits. He is later a Lt. General, however there was no Brig. General rank in the Wehrmacht. The General Officers were Major General, Lt. Gen, General,. Colonel General and General Field Marshall. Brig. General was a rank only in the SS.
Barry Morse played the banker and Gõring funky, Wolf Stoller in the Winds of War.
Aster's orders for gun action against Japanese survivors is based on the action of Captain Dudley W. Morton of the USS Wahoo (SS-238) in January 1943. The nickname given Aster and the Moray, "The One Boat Wolf Pack," was given to Morton and the Wahoo, and controversy surrounding the killing of the survivors is also true to historical fact.
When Aaron Jastrow is transferred to Paris it's for treatment at "The American Hospital in Paris." This hospital really exists and was founded in 1906. Though accredited by the controlling organizations of both the USA and France, neither government provides any funding as the hospital runs on private and corporate donations as well as fees. This is the same hospital that Rock Hudson was treated at with a new AIDS drug in 1985.
In Part 10: Adm. Henry's flagship is the USS Iowa (BB62), lead ship of the Iowa class, which is seen earlier in this episode. However, as Byron approaches on the Admiral's barge, we see it approaching the BB60, the USS Alabama, a ship of the South Dakota class.
