An American adventure-comedy Western about a trio of Texas outlaws and bandits during the Gold Rush in California.
THE RIDE TO HANGMAN’S TREE is an exact remake of BLACK BART (1948), with comical and musical elements: its plot is based on a story written by the trio of the American screenwriters Luci Ward (who was a former scipt-girl, stenographer and journalist known as Brooks Nevins) and her husband and editor John Francis (Jack) Natteford, in collaboration with the American journalist, actor and playwright William (Bill) Bowers: the trio had worked together in 1948, elaborating the plot for the movie BLACK BART, HIGHWAYMAN, extensive footage of which is used in.the remake, called THE RIDE TO HANGMAN’S TREE.
The original plot of BLACK BART was based on the true story of the poet-outlaw Charles or Charley Boles, Bowles or Bolton (
