New Pickup Toyota Hilux Revo Double Cab 2016, 2017 Last month the all-new Toyota Hilux Revo made its debut at an event in Bangkok, Thailand, featuring a new design, new engine family and better equipment. Below is a pictorial comparison between the outgoing Toyota Hilux Vigo and the new Hilux Revo. The new Toyota Hilux Revo comes with a design that falls in line with the company’s next design philosophy. It’s a step up from the aged design of the Hilux Vigo and gives the Hilux line a fresh face. Up front, the Hilux Revo sports a large set of projector headlamps with DRLs that flow into a trapezoidal 3-slat grille, nearly similar to the new Toyota Corolla Altis. The lower fascia has been been made simple, featuring a single air inlet and fog lamps on both sides. The hood ditches the tacky air scoop, leaving the pickup with a simple and clean front end. The side of the two generations remain nearly similar, save for new side mirrors, redesigned C-Pillar and an updated wheel arch design. The rear end features an updated set of taillamps and new handle-bar. The latest Hilux sits on an all new platform that has increased rigidity and strength over the outgoing model. This has, however, increased the weight of the Hilux Revo. The interior of the Hilux Revo is a bigger departure, as compared to the exterior. Toyota has scrapped the typical utility vehicle look for a more car-like interior with enhanced comfort and features. The steering wheel looks more upscale and more comfortable, along with integrated controls for the music system. The instrument cluster sports a larger multi-information display that feeds details like instantaneous fuel economy, average fuel efficiency, distance to empty and service interval reminder. Available in top-end variants, the central dashboard comes with a large “floating” touchscreen display as well as Corolla Altis-esque central HVAC vents above and its controls below. It is also equipped with push button start, automatic climate control, rear HVAC vents. Toyota has crammed the Hilux’s cabin with safety equipment such as 7-airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, Trailer Sway Control, VSC, Downhill assist control and Hill Assist control. The new Hilux Revo will be available with three engine choices – two diesel and one petrol. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine is carried over from the previous generation Hilux, delivering 122 hp and 245 Nm of torque. One of the main highlights, however, is the new ‘GD’ diesel engine family. The entry-level 2.4-liter four-cylinder mill is available in various states: 150 hp/343 Nm and 150 hp/400 Nm of torque. The more powerful 2.8-liter diesel engine is also available with 177 hp/420 Nm and 177 hp/450 Nm of torque, depending on the customer’s choice between a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Toyota claims a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over the outgoing Hilux. Much of the features and technical specifications of the Hilux Revo will be common to the 2016 Toyota Fortuner and the 2016 Toyota Innova, which will launch in Thailand this year, and touch down in India next year,
