One of the most memorable projects with Green Kids is when we visited Shingar! I have always wanted to visit this beautiful place where you can see how diverse and rich kurdish culture is! Sadly after the fall of Saddam the area is surrounded by a lot of terrorists since most of this big area is in the hands of the Iraqi government! We had the privilege to be accompanied by Superstars like Karwan Hawrami and Li Dine! The story gets more special since two members of Li Dine (dad n son are originally from "Shingar" It was the first time for Rewan (Li Dine member) to see his home! Together with his Danish team of Brand New Records they got very emotional! The way to "Shingar" was very dangerous.. An amazing security team backed us up! And the Danish team did not got scared of all the tanks n heavy armed man! They took the challenge and risk.. Just to help the children! We finally arrived after 5 long bumpy hours with the car to the primary school of "Xalat" in the kurdish village of "Shingar" We were so grateful for the big warm welcome by the school, women organization and everyone else! Together with my friends, Derbaz Yunis founder of Kmelody Kurdistan's biggest online music magazine, a great tv host and a poem writer. Farnaz Kangerloo an iranian artist who had two big successful exhibition about persian women. Las Berzinci, editor in chief of two big english magazines in the region and a great member of Green Kids.. We could manage to provide the school with a solar water heating system, books, school material, plants, a green garden and gave the school colorful colors! Not to forget the superstar Karwan Hawrami, Li Dine and our Danish friends.. We made a small dream came truth! We all went home touched by little hearts, inspired for a lifetime and blessed to be able to help a hand! Thank you "Xalat" school for letting us be a part of your beautiful school! The children were so sweet, beautiful and special! I hope all the beautiful little dreams and wishes of the children will come truth!
