Summary
Hermia loves Lysander and Helena loves Demetrius but Demetrius is supposed to
be marrying Hermia... When the Duke of Athens tries to enforce the marriage, the
lovers take refuge in the woods and wander into the midst of a dispute between the
king and queen of the fairies. Shakespeare put some of his most dazzling dramatic
poetry at the service of this teasing, glittering, hilarious and amazingly
inventive play, whose seriousness is only fleetingly glimpsed beneath its
dreamlike surface.

My notes
There are a number of Midsummer Night's Dream in my various collections-- one
by Julie Taymor and also a Shakespeare Lives recode of the production directed by
Emma Rice.
This Globe version comes from several years ago. It features Michelle Terry
also seen in Love's Labours Lost at The Globe. Those who follow the Globe news
(this is written mid- December 2017) have read that Michelle Terry will assume
directorship of the Globe in 2018.
The Shakespeare Lives version of Midsummer at the Globe is worth seeking out on
Demonoid by another file sharer from a screen capture. I seed that one as well as
this recode.
Here there are star performances by many of the players. Paerce Quigley returns
in this production as do others. The role of Puck has been re-created in a
variety of ways in Midsummer Night's Dream. The play's interpretation herein is
one of the more adventurous and engaging ones.
